Who was Maria Montessori?

Born in Italy in 1870, Maria Montessori was the first woman ever to become a Doctor in Italy. Being the only woman in this very male environment, she was immediately assigned to children.

After months of observation, she developed an education method based on scientific material that really made a difference.

This was the beginning of the Montessori method and Maria Montessori devoted her whole life to defending children’s education.

Maria Montessori's Life Work.

At the heart of the Montessori Method: "help me to do it by myself"

The essence of independence is to be able to do something for one’s self”*

Make children eager to learn: “The child becomes a person through work.”*

Respect each child’s individual rhythm: each individual evolves depending on his/her capacities.

Associate theory and practice: Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.”* In the Montessori method, children start with concrete experimentations and gradually go on to abstract. The Montessori material develops concentration, logic and dexterity progressively and durably.

Stimulate all senses: The senses, being explorers of the world, open the way to knowledge”.*

Develop concentration:The first essential for the child’s development is concentration. The child who concentrates is immensely happy.
