Technical support

There is no sound in the application

Some of our users have experienced this problem (that can actually be seen on any app on your device) and it can usually be fixed by one of these two methods:
1- the button on the side of the iPad might be on the "mute" position, switching it could restore the sound.
2- if that doesn't work you can
-  uninstall the app by leaving your finger on the icon until it wiggles.
- Then tap the cross in the corner and confirm you want to delete the app.
- Go back on the AppStore and reinstall the app. Don t worry, Apple will not charge you again. As a matter of fact Apple will never charge you twice for the same app.

Other wise, the iPad has an interesting mute quirk, which can result in no sound coming from certain apps over your iPad speaker, even though volume is turned up and you can hear the sound with headphones.

This Soft Mute “feature” mutes app music and sounds, but not the audio from Hulu or Netflix, which makes it difficult to diagnose, especially since your headphones still work, but thankfully it is easy to fix.

In order to fix this, you need to follow the instructions below

  • Double tap the home button
  • Swipe from left to right
  • Tap the speaker icon to the far left
  • It should show “Mute Off” below the play button
  • Listen to app sound once again

This should fix your selectively silent iPad.

Error message/bug - Data not available
Your phone or iPad asks for permission to store pictures taken in Numberland the first time your child takes a picture.  If he/she answers "No", an error message saying "Données non disponibles" will occur each time he/she touches the camera button, creating a bug.
The way to fix this is:
Go to "settings", select "privacy", "pictures", enable Numberland.
We are sincerely sorry about this bug.  It only occurs because of Apple's new IOS and we are in the process of updating the app so it stops doing that.

FAQ Numberland

“how will my child know what to do?  Where are the instructions?”

Trust your child’s instinct, he is a digital native.  We have designed this app to push children to explore the screen as we believe it is what they will do naturally.  However we have added some oral instructions to make sure that they are gently guided.  We don’t want children to discover all the features the first time around, some only discovered the octopus on the fifth utilization!

Why is the zero coming after number nine ?

For some people it seems “unnatural” but actually it’s introducing the concept of zero to children who don’t know the concept of numbers that is meaningless.  With the Spindles (when you tap Tam in the Zero screen), children realize that once they’ve put the correct number of spindles in each box, there are none left for the "zero" box.  But they can only do this when they know how much four, five and six are.

Why address the numbers from 0 to 9 only ? It is too easy !

People often think that knowing the 123 song means knowing how to count but it isn’t so. Children learn 123 as a song from a very young age but often they cannot identify numbers individually and they do not realize that each number represents a quantity. With Tam and Tao in Numberland, children will learn to recognize numbers from 0 to 9 in a simple and fun manner, and they will be able to associate a quantity with a number, which is not that easy !

Then you can say they know how to count and address the concept of dizains.

FAQ Montessori Letter Sounds

On the menu, two of the pencils are not active. Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. This app was designed to offer children progressive learning. There are 4 different

games with 3 levels each. When a new name tag is created, children can only access the first level

of the first two games. The remaining levels and games are unlocked by playing and winning marbles

(between 20 and 30 depending on the games).

Some of the words used are difficult, some I've never even heard myself. How do you expect

a 3 year old to know them?

It is important to know that the interactivity of the app offers children the possibility

to hear the name of the object whenever they want just by taping the card.

We have deliberately included more complicated words to enhance children's vocabulary.

Having a rich vocabulary is key to reading.

Indeed, deciphering words is one thing but putting meaning to reading can only be done

if you know/understand what the words mean.

Why does the letter E make the sound "ai"?

The phonetic sound of a letter is the sound most commonly used in words.

The phonetic alphabet teaches children these sounds.

In "Sound it out", why can my child put a K instead of a C and the app doesn't correct it?

In the first two levels of "Sound it Out" children are asked to place the sounds they hear in

the correct spaces. "c" and "k" are equal sounds. Children can put either in the spaces but the app

corrects the spelling at the end to make them aware of the correct spelling.

I like the recorder but how does my child know if he/she has pronounced properly?

All of the material designed by Maria Montessori includes the possibility to self-correct.

In this exercise, children can tap the card with the letter or image once they have recorded themselves.

They can then listen to their recording and listen to the card again to check.

They can record themselves endlessly until they are happy with their work.
